About Us

Welcome!

MACE Glass is a self-representing artist website. This means that I represent and sell all of my own work. All the glass that you see on this website is made entirely by my hands.

I am a Professional Apprentice Glass Artisan.  I started working with glass in the fall of 2009 and have taken many classes from Professional Glass Artisans.  I am currently apprenticing under a Master Glass Artisan with over 6+ years of experience.  The Master that I work under has an extensive knowledge of glass and teaches group classes to others on an almost weekly basis.   My teacher has taken classes and has  1-on-1 experience from many other Master Artisans and instructors, most notably Milon Townsend.

I work purely in borosilicate (hard) glass.  All my colored glass comes from three family owned glass companies in the United States. My clear glass comes from the Czech Republic from a company that produces the highest quality, 100% pure, laboratory glass and has been doing so for over 100 years.  I chose these more expensive raw materials to ensure the highest quality jewelry and art that will last a lifetime and beyond.

All my glass pieces go directly from the hot flame into a hot annealing kiln at the manufacturers’ recommend temperature for annealing.  My pieces are then held at a proper temperature for at least 1.5x longer than recommended to ensure that all of the glass is at one temperature with no stress before the cooling process begins.  Then the glass is cooled VERY slowly to ensure that no thermal shock ensues and no new stress appears during this time.  This results in the strongest possible piece of glass.
